Part two: business ideas 2019
I have already written another article on business ideas to try in 2019.
Here is another list
·
Mini Power plant
Demand for power is on the rise. So many people have been added to the
national grid over the last few couple of years. It is so nice to have power to
use for various purposes. Not everyone is happy though. Some have complained of
power outages. This greatly affects businesses that depend on power. When there
is no power, no money is made. Some have complained of irregular bills. This
month you pay a certain amount, the other month you are charged double. Others
have complained about the cost of power. If your business needs power e.g.
bakery, saloon, ice-cream vendor, welder you need electricity costs to be low
so as to make profit. These problems can be addressed through accessing cheap
and reliable electricity. These days, power can be generated efficiently using
solar and wind power. Once you set up some solar panels and a windmill, you
will be capable of producing electricity day and night. You can then sell this
power to businesses in your area at a low cost. In areas where rivers are
available, small hydro-powered turbines can be used to generate electricity.
The biggest cost to this idea is during the setting up phase. Once the machines
are up and running, you will only need to do repairs.

Biogas
Food is an essential part of
survival. Most people eat meals which are cooked. In order to cook food, you
need fuel. What are the options available? First there is electricity. This
option is too expensive for most people. Second is charcoal. The problem is the
availability of it. Sometimes it is there, sometimes it is banned. Another
option is firewood. The problem with this option is that not everyone can use
it. It is so hard to light firewood in an apartment building. Another option is
using gas. This option is nice but not everyone can afford it. The last option
on the list is biogas. Many people across the country use this option of
cooking. They have found it to be the most affordable and environmentally
friendly. Many people however cannot produce their own because they don’t own
land to produce this commodity. This creates a business opportunity. The
production of biogas is usually simple. All you need is the machine that
creates the gas and fill it with animal waste in order for it to work. Some
researchers have stated that vegetable waste produces more gas because it has
not been broken down by the digestive systems of animals. If this is the case,
then it may be better to use vegetable waste to produce the gas. Marketing this
product will be fairly easy since cooking is a basic need.

3d printing
3d printing is a fairly new
concept in today’s world. It basically involves printing a physical object in
order for it to have three dimensions, length, width and height. Some of the
early adopters of this technology used it to make 3d models of people from
their digital photos. The uses of this technology, in theory, is limitless. For
example I was thinking about car parts. Minor accidents happen every day in our
streets. Sometimes damages occur to your vehicles indicators or headlights. If
you own a new model of a car brand or your car is the only one in the market,
you may find it difficult to find a replacement part. One option you have is to
park your car. The other option is to put a polythene bag over your lights (the
police will eat you dry). Both these options are annoying. The third option
would be to 3d print a new car part. All you need is a digital photo of the car
part that broke off. You can do this by taking a photo of the remaining good
lights. Next you upload the photo to your 3d printer and wait for new car part
to be finished. This process is more complicated than how I have described it
here but there are many tutorials online. This can only be used as a temporary
measure as you wait for the original car part to be available to you. 3d
printers are very expensive so this idea requires a lot of capital.

Mobile homes
Almost
everyone needs shelter. It’s hard though to find an affordable place to live in
urban areas. This is because the cost of land and the cost of construction is
very high. Landlords set rent at a high rate in order to quickly recover their
cost. The cheapest places to live are normally found in adjacent counties.
Every day as you commute, you always see a “kwaheri” billboard. This problem
can be solved by the introduction of mobile homes. You don’t have to own land
with this option. You can opt to lease land. Once you have a written agreement
with the land owner, you just have to purchase mobile homes and park them on
the land. You may do some research online on where you can find the cheapest
option. You may need to set aside some cash for repairs if you opt to buy
second hand. The beauty of this option is that if a tenant refuses to pay rent,
all you have to do is drive off with the house. Another advantage is that if
you want to go on vacation, you just hook the mobile house to your car and
drive off to your preferred destination. Once you are there, you don’t need to
spend money on a hotel.
