business ideas for KBC
Kenya broadcasting corporation is the oldest local broadcaster in Kenya.
Many people grew up watching only it because it was the only free channel. It
had many fascinating programs that were enjoyed by all in the family. There
were both educational programs while others were just for entertainment. Today
many people would like access to those programs. How can they do that?
Kbc needs to create an online platform for us to watch all that content.
How can they categorize the content?
1. Raw footage.
Most of the major events that happened in
Kenya’s history were covered by kbc. This includes national events as well as
interviews of famous individuals. An example is the Independence Day
celebrations. All we see during the celebrations is just a few seconds of clips
showing the raising of the flag. What happened before or after, we do not know.
This full raw footage is probably available in kbc’s archives and can be very
interesting to watch. What can also be interesting is watching promises by
polititians in the first parliament. Were their dreams ever met? Such clips can
bring a clearer picture of what Kenya was like in the past.
2. News.
Many people across the globe like to be informed of what is happening in
the world and in their environment. The easiest way this can happen is through
news broadcasts. Kbc has been producing news bulletins day after day for many
years. These broadcasts can be a very interesting watch because I personally
would like to know what the news headlines were the day I was born. Other
serious people who research a lot about history would probably want to know
what important events shaped the history of the country. Others would like to
know how the development of the country moved from year to year. This can be
easily tracked archived news bulletins. Since they are all dated, it can be
uploaded online in a chronological manner.
3. Series.
There are so many exciting series in kbc’s archives. Starting from vioja
mahakamani, vitimbi among many others. These series still have a following and
many will seriously watch them if they are made available
4. drama fest
Many people participated or have watched drama festivals. The winning
schools used to be invited to the state house to perform. These were covered by
the media. These footage can be very exciting to watch and many will probably
stream it if such is put online.
How will kbc fund such a project? The government usually
funds this particular media house and I am sure they cannot be given extra cash
to experiment. The other option would be to approach an already existing video
online sharing platform like viusasa or showmax and agree on a deal to put
their content online. The other option would be to approach a private investor
to fund the project from scratch. Either way it will probably be a very
successful venture.
